6 Things to Do Right After Your Engagement

You’re engaged! Now what? It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and dreaming of your future together, and that’s okay! Before you get swept away by the daunting task of planning a wedding, take a moment to enjoy this pivotal step in your relationship and make sure your new favorite accessory is safe. Here are a few things to do right after you say “yes!”

Celebrate!
Pop a bottle of champagne! Shout it from the rooftops! Enjoy the moment! Your engagement is typically the shortest part of your long journey together, so embrace it while you can!

Tell Your Crew
Inform important family members and friends first. This includes parents, siblings, grandparents, and your besties. In-person is the way to go, but if distance prevents you from accomplishing that, opt for FaceTime! Why? Because they’re important to you and will want to share that moment with you in a special way before your acquaintances, coworkers, etc. know. After this core group has had the chance to celebrate with you, feel free to announce your engagement to the rest of the world on social media, by text, in person…whichever way you’d prefer!

Get the Perfect Fit…for Your Ring!
If your engagement ring is too loose or too tight, get it resized as soon as possible so you can show it off without worrying about losing it. Your jeweler will help you find the perfect fit!

Insure Your Ring
This is something many couples don’t think about, and there’s more than one way to do it. For example, if you already own a home, you can tie it into your homeowner’s insurance! Your jeweler may also have options available.

Start Saving
Weddings can be costly depending on your vision, so setting funds aside as early as possible will help! Your first major deposit will be your venue deposit. Having a bit of cash saved up ahead of time will alleviate some of the stress of scrambling to lock in your date.

Take a Breath
Enjoy the moment for at least a week or two before you jump into planning for the big day. Once you start planning, time flies and you’ll be married before you know it!
